Peter, totally agree with you on your soapbox. :-)
Hell, my parents ( w/ me and my sister) did not even own a 4 door until I
was in high school. We inherited a '71 Chevy Caprice coupe from my
grandfather in '79 and when my dad was stationed in Germany took it with
him. In High School ('82-'86 Ramstein AFB, Ger) we got an Opel Kadett
4-door , our first time with a second car and first four door, shortly
before his tour was up we got a '86 Audi 5000s (for $13k, good exchange
rate) and brought that back with us to the states along with the Chevy.
My bro-in-laws sister HAS to have a minivan with two kids.(according to
him). Just more crap to haul around I say. On trips when I was growing up I
was allowed to take only ONE toy, not most of them.
