[s-cars] Wheels and offsets, wheel alignment 93 S4

I have the opportunity to go from 71/2 X 16 ET 37 to 8 X 17 ET 35 on  
my 93 S4 avant 6 speed. I wonder what 2mm less offset per side will  
do on a rim that is 1/2" wider.
What do the gurus think???
Having swapped out the suspension (see my other posting) and maybe  
changed my rims I will be getting the alignment done.
Is factory alignment considered the best or do you suggest other  
settings, (these cars do seem to wear the inside fronts faster than I  
would wish.)
