Did you ever think that the X5's tires were biased toward dry handling?

The stock Michelin Diamaris are most definitely NOT winter tires.

If you're also talking about SUVs weighing 4000-6000 lbs., there is no
comparison
in terms of weight- the S6 is approx. 3800 lbs- that's a lot more weight- X5
is what,
4400?, Infiniti FX is around 4400, Touraeg is 5000, Tahoe/Escalade can hit
close to
6000.

Have you ever tried it? I've run 225s on my 3650lb. 200 and they were
definitely too
wide for the weight of the car. The same size on our 4000 lb. V70 works
better, although
I still think they are a tad wide for fresh snowfall.

In contrast, 195/65R15 snows on my 3350lb. 5ktq were great in the snow.

Please don't spread misinformation like "255s are fine for snows on an S
car"- they're not.
