Well,
I have no doubt whatsoever that I have wagon-profiling to thank for a number
of free-passes from Johnny Law. That said, it does little good at buck-two
speeds, other than the some puzzled looks, and "what the hell kind of car is
this anyway?" lines from our finest. And, the likes of Baloney's screamin'
red pimpwagon are not eligible for the privileges mentioned above.
I would be interested in getting lister's input who have witnessed or seen
post mortem examples of our avants after rear end collisions. My only
account was actually that of Uncle Bob's. His avant was totalled in a
highway-speed rear ender. He told me he was very impressed with the tail
structure. Specifically, that there was no significant deformation of the
third-row seating space, given the impact.
In my application, I rarely find my kids in the third row on interstates,
due to the fact that that space is taken up with luggage or ice;~P on longer
trips. But for buzzing around town, the third-row seating is the greatest.
The kids love it, and the seating capacity is extended to 7. This was one of
the original reasons that we purchased the S/Avant in the first place.
As always, YMMV.
The voices are all in your head, and I know nothing...
