Russ-
Crescent City Motors used to be an excellent place to buy Porsche stuff, but
since
they are in New Orleans and the ownership changed, I think the deals went
away when
the ownership changed a year or two ago. Anyway, it's a moot point with
them- they're
probably not even open due to the hurricane.
Sunset Imports in Oregon is pretty good- they charge something like 15% over
cost for
everything.
I've had good luck with Clair Parts as well in Boston, make sure you order
from Clair Parts,
not the regular dealership parts counter, there is a big difference in price
and you should
always ask for the "out of town" pricing just to make sure.
Once in a while, your local dealer might have a good deal here and there as
well- someone
recently posted that Brandywine Porsche had a special on calipers, they're
in my part of the
country, so you never know. A lot of Porsche dealers and parts houses
advertise in Panorama
(if you're a PCA member), Excellence (nearly the same as Panorama, better
articles IMHO),
as well as the less marque-oriented magazines- Grassroots Motorsports and
some other magazines
more geared toward motorsport can be good sources to find parts suppliers.
I think with the rise of the Euro and other circumstances, they're not going
to be very cheap-
I paid $270 or so each back when I got my calipers in '01.
