[s-cars] cleaing the engine bay

I've seen some clean engine bays from listers and am wondering
what are recomndations for cleaning out the engine bay, mine is fairly dirty and I am contemplating power washing it at the car wash.  or should I use a degriming agent and then carefully rinse it off.
got some dirt caked in the lower parts.
