[s-cars] [Audi-nw] looking for rear brake lines (Seattle)

Hey Steve, sorry to hear about your issue. I have a set of OEM lines in the
garage right now waiting to be installed, but 1) they are in Portland, and
2) they are for a V8Q! ;-)

I thought it is worth mentioning that you want to have the rear caliper in
the normal riding position (i.e. not jacked up with the spring uncompressed)
when you install the new rear brake lines. You probably already knew this,
but it *may* have been part of why the old brake line failed on you if the
PO hadn't done this...

Those rear lines are pretty short and can't take the torsion if you install
them with the rear suspension fully extended, then return it to normal ride
position.

Good luck locating your parts!

Cheers,

- Jeremy

Subject: [Audi-nw] looking for rear brake lines (Seattle)

We had a catastrophic rear brake line failure last evening in the
Avant. The ferrule at the end which attaches to the hard line had cut
into the brake line due to flexing with the suspension. I suspect it
may have been too short, e.g. OEM had wrong length data for the 95 S6
and made lines too short.

Meanwhile, I'm stuck without the car until I can get a new set of rear
brake lines (stainless). I'm hoping someone locally (Seattle) might
have a set that are waiting to be installed. If you're not on an
immediate timeframe and could spare them for now, I'd gladly get you a
new set. I'm hoping to get the car back on the road before Monday.

Anyone? Bueller?

Thanks!

Steve Powers
