Subject: [s-cars] 5 new coils

Okay, I am confused. Why would anyone be happy with spending 5 x $95
(plus taxes) on five old style coils and still have to worry about the
two $150 POSs taking unannounced early retirement(s) when they could
spend 5 x $30 on five 1.8 t coil packs with built-in POS units?? Both
require wiring (crimping or soldering).

Notice that the new 4.2 V8 S4s run the 1.8t style coil packs (with
orange rubber trim - ooooohh) not our big old honkin' boat anchor coils.

I tried to lead the way. But nobody is following. Hmmm...

Sensitive Davey...

I developed a miss back in May that we eventually determined to be
coils. During the summer you said you'd hoped to crack the 1.8t
solution. The summer wore on and my miss worsened, and as tempting as
the 'possibility' of your solution working was, I broke down and slapped
the coils on plastic. Couldn't wait for the 'possibility' you'd finish
your endeavor, and 'possibly' finish successfully.

Of course, literally, you posted your great success about a week after I
ordered my new coils, and then I just got around to installing them now.
Timing didn't help that I'd placed the order before leaving for vacation
and then heard about your post while on the beach for 2 weeks from
Pasqualoni, just before //SFest. Timing is everything, and, like
always, my luck in such things sucks.

I personally wasn't too keen on the thought of not running a coil cover,
tho I'm sure you or someone will someday surmount that quandary as well.
Plus, only time will tell how long your set up works... personally I
really hope it's long-term but the timing on this one just didn't work
out for me this time.

I know others out there are appreciative of your efforts, so, rest
assured there Chiefy. Hope that helps easy your confusement, or
something and stuff and things, I think. Regardless, keep up the
pioneering work up there, it's efforts like that which help keep these
pieces o' crap on the road.
