 you mentioned overflow.. could be a bit short on fluid.
 did you introduce oxygen into the system at any point? could have air
pockets
 also keep in mind that if you replaced or at least refreshed existing
moving parts, you could be experiencing the pedal travel of a healthy
system.. as opposed to a rusty/corroded or compromised system that doesnt
allow the components to move as intended. the latter could result in
decreased movement and sometimes stiffer pedal feel.
