[s-cars] Texas tea...oil, that is...

to paraphrase jason : the oil debacle is really a can of worms. most
current oil even synthetics conforms to the recent U.S. conservation
standards being what is considered " low shear " rated as ( A2, A5 ) and
will assist in better fuel econ. but our audi engines being of tight
tolerances need oil that is " high shear " these oils are easily identified
by the ACEA rating of A3 or the audi / vw rating of 502/505. many
viscosities of even M1 have been re formulated as low shear. my advice when
purchasing oil is to look as jason suggested for the high shear A3 rated
oils m1 15-50 incl, the stealer has a castrol syntec 5w-40, i have seen a
valvoline synthetic i believe it was 20w-50 that was vw 502/505, and castrol
10w-40 i saw recently in advance. think about this when looking at the
jugs- rob
