[s-cars] Texas tea...oil, that is...

BTW, early Audi/VW (as well as other German makes) engines are High
Tolerance
bearing engines, thus they need (use) heavier weight oil. They had the high
tolerances
due to the expected continous high speed, high RPM use, so a thicker oil
film was called
for compared to Japanese and 'murican makes. As fuel economy became more of
an issue,
and manufacturing techniques improved, they were able to adapt to low shear
oils, tighter
tolerances and still maintain extended high speed durability.
Also, BTW, I just picked up yet another jug 5qt Jug of M1 (10W-30) for
$20.84. Stocking
what I can in case the price of oil goes up again (and yes, this has been
discussed before,
the base stock of M1 and other synths is usually still from dino, so their
prices are usually
effected by the world oil markets). Just a heads up if anyone is on the
market for synth oil.
