JP,
Boy I love that kind of talk! This keeps up, we could awaken some sleeping
giants. So, I'll type this in again;)
>From "Top Gear" the magazine.... #14, pg 84 .... FWIW pig or no pig and I
quote~
"Audi RS2-
I remember calling Audi UK way back in '94 to ask how best to launch this
new 4WD 315 bhp estate car off the line. I was put on hold and soon the
answer came back. "Ingolstadt instructs to rev to the rev limiter (my
thought inserted here: bwahaha bwahaha!) and drop the clutch while holding
full throttle." (bwaha! again)
"You've got to be joking" I said.
"No, they're German engineers, they don't joke."
So I did and the resultant violent thumping from the drivetrain was very
loud and painfully unpleasant. I never broke five seconds for the 0-60 dash,
but impressively we didn't break the car either, despite further abuse at
the Brighton Speed Trials. And 0-30 in 1.5 seconds is srill a joint Top Gear
road car record."
Cut to my neighbors newly seal coated driveway last year after a wee rain
shower. 7,000 rev and let er rip for a 30m four wheel drift. Nothing like
ALL four wheels a spinnin. Did that twice more but my progressively widening
grin got me the invite to cease and desist.
YMMV
