This is exactly how I lauinch as well, Dave. It is by far the best
technique with these cars, IMHO. I have only run 1.90 short times, so no
1.7's or anything, but having watched Jim launch at the strip, along with
Ben (I don't know his last name but he also runs 12's with a 5 cyl turbo) I
have to believe the rear ends are up to the task...at least the non
torsen...I don't know about the torsen, though.
Incidentally I had a rear end in an '83 Trans Am snap on me at the strip one
time. The best part was that we just called AAA and they came down the
staging lanes with the tow truck and we were on our way for free :)

I wonder if it has anything to do with the torsen center diff shuffling
around the power. Nate's been running an 016 locker and V8 diff in his V8tt
90q with only good results. I know he beats the snot out of it too. Of
course his car is lighter, but maybe with the center diff locked it is
applying the power smoother?
I'd like to do this mod some day so I'd like to hear other peoples opinions
as well.
You weren't running some kind of crazy fluid like shockproof were you?
For the launches, what you're doing sounds fine to me. Now go put the car
in the garage till Sat morning! ;)
