Oh man...I think they would be more worried that you took a 229 HP car
and did something over 500 HP with it then cutting an 1" slot in the
core ;)

Cody:  You missed Emre's "R32" joke (I think you meant R134 AC).  In any
case, all the larger FMIC "kits" (Apikol or Dave Stone)  require
trimming the bumper support.  My concern is a loss of front end
collision resistance and potentially, injury, that the insurance company
would say "Oh, that's too bad but you modified the bumper, we can't
cover your (damage or personal injury) claim".
