[s-cars] Get the ABS sensor out on a rusted car

Fred,

I just hope Mike Platt have the right answer and it's damaged spline I
haven't detect with my fingers and the hub is still OK. Besides, the hub
went very easily into the bearing so I suppose the ID was correct.

I'll try a triangular file on the splines and see how it goes.

And thanks for the procedure to remove the ABS sensor. I'll try that when
the axle will be back in.

Vincent.

Vincent;

The ABS sensors are hard to remove. The best method I've found is to soak
the sensor in your favourite penetrating oil and use two screwdrivers as
prybars on opposite sides of the sensor to "walk" it out of the hole.

The axle problem is an odd one. If the splines are clean and properly
aligned (check to make sure there isn't a wide spline or missing spline to
key the shaft in a particular position - can't remember) the only thing I
can think of is the ID of the bearing is a bit too small and it has
compressed the hub and reduced the ID on the hub spline.

Subject: [s-cars] Get the ABS sensor out on a rusted car

Hi all,

Less urgent than my axle problem posted earlier, I haven’t find a way to
remove the ABS sensor from the bearing housing. It seems to be made of soft
metal and it doesn’t move if I try to gently pull from the outside or when
gently hammering it from the inside. Is there any way to remove it without
finishing with a unusable piece of wrecked metal?

Vincent.

P.S. : I got the same problem on the older 90Q20V and finished with a
unusable piece of wrecked metal
still stuck in the bearing housing! So I
don’t want to renew the experience with the S6.
