Eric-
I respectfully disagree- maybe you can point me to some info that supports
your statement.

If loss of mass at the hub was a significant detriment to brake performance,
you would not see multi-piece rotors used in motorsports as much. Do you
have access to any experiments that show measured temps of the brake rotor
in several areas to see where the heat goes?
