[s-cars] Switchblade Remote question

Tony:

I'm using a switchblade remote with my 1997 and Igor is right, the range
is about 15 ft max. The problem is that I can't compare this to the
stock remote, because I did this "upgrade" as soon as I bought the car.

I have a gut feeling that your 1996 will not work, but as a reference
the original RF remotes supplied with my car say the following:

FCCID: MZ2 410 819 4
CAN 2674102293 VDO

The switchblade that works with my 1997 says:

FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 3
CANADA 2674 102 665 VDO
4D0 837 231E 46/02

BTW, the switchblade will open the trunk separately of the doors which
is a cool feature and also, it will roll up the windows and close the
sunroof if the lock button is held down. This takes some VAG-COM
programming.
