[s-cars] More Rear taillight discussions

When I bought a pickup a few years ago one of the reasons that I chose GMC 
over Chevy was that GMC uses the amber turn signals, and Chevy uses red. 
I've since found that many of the GMC owners are buying and installing the 
Chevy all-red tail lights because they think they look better.

This makes me wonder if the red/amber decision has nothing at all to do with 
somebody's perception of safety, and has everything to do with somebody's 
perception of sales appeal?
