That was fun car ...  I had a '77 Sirocco with a '78 1.5 diesel,
with added Spearco turbo kit and a '79 5 speed gearbox.  It was a bit
faster than most gas Rabbits and I could get by with a 2" straight
exhaust  :-)   The tach innards were fitted with a meter that ran off
the alternator.  I used to run from Ohio to Maryland every weekend
through the Pennsylvania mountains, usually at warp 3 or so.
