[s-cars] RS6 going to auction

I am inferring from your post, which can be dangerous, but I will say
unequivocally that consumer's having access to that information should not
be a problem for anyone unless they are being dishonest with their
customers. I am absolutely more likely to do business with someone who is
willing to share information on their costs than I am one who is not.

Everyone understands that people must make a profit to stay in business.
Everyone also understands that $10k of profit on a car priced at $25k is
highway robbery. Knowing what the cars sell for at auction gives me a much
better idea of what a fair profit is for the dealer. A recent Audi I
purchased was bought from a dealer who buys cars off auction. He told me
what he had in the car...it was about 26.5k if I remember...I paid 27.5k and
everybody was happy. The transaction took all of 30 minutes. I have since
recommended 2 people to him who bought cars from him. I had someone check
out the price he actually paid for the car at auction and he was 100%
honest, hence why I can recommend him with no qualms.

Information control is garbage. I have never sold a used car without
complete disclosure of all known problems up front, and all prices paid for
any and all items the perspective buyer wants to inquire about. I'm not a
dealer but I don't know why the dealer would want to be any different.

Sure, no problem with that; although it doesn't cost big bucks ( maybe
$500.00 on the average) for a dealer to bring a car to the auction.
I do have a problem with the Manheim post sales market report being posted
to the list. That's a tool the we dealers use so we can get an idea of what
cars are selling for when we are either asked about the availabilty of such
a car or more often, what a particular car might be worth in real dollars
as a trade in..The first thing that posting did was create the need for a
clarification of terms ; which then started the thread on "brokers".
