(This was sitting in my outbox, and Douglas's problem has since been
resolved, but I'll throw it out there anyway, in case it can help
(or confuse) someone else.)

I, too, am electrically challenged. It is my understanding (and I could
be wrong) that the switches use a switched ground to get the window up
and down. That is, press the switch "down", and a given wire is the
ground. Press the switch "up", and that same wire is no longer the
ground, but becomes 12V source to move the motor (and window) in the
other direction.  Note that I blow a lot of fuses when I do electrical
work.  :)
