Lee,
I'm that's terrible that the accident happened, but I'm glad that
your BIL is alive and that he will, over time be able to share his
life with the rest of his, and your family. At least modern prosthetic
technology will likely ultimately have him back on his feet again.
And, it's true, it is life, which is ours to work with and enjoy our
families and toys and //UrS's, etc, that is most important.
I too have slowed greatly (although mostly due to the cost of
fuel when the closest town of consequence is 40 miles away)
and I'm always on edge looking for deer and oncoming, out of control
logging trucks. I pretty well save the fast road work for the track
or autocross course at this point. Safer, for everyone.
