Robert,
AFAIK, no cars in the North American market got manual seats. The seat rails
are totally different- there is a center rail that the slider locks into
which is not present on the power seats.

In order to install a manual seat, you'll have to modify and reinforce the
floorpan, weld in the bracket to the floorpan and then install the seat.
Igor did this on an A4, he might be able to provide you some further insight
into exactly what's involved.

If I may ask, are you interested in retrofitting a fully manual OEM seat or
something aftermarket? Recaro and some other aftermarket seats offer much
better bolstering than the OEM seats. The new SR-6 is very nice for a
recliner. If you're skinny, the big bolstered Brides are even nicer.
