Taka,
I am trying to fit a Recaro Pole Position seat on the driver's side with a
slider because both my daughter and I use the car at the track. Recaro in
Germany sent a slider that bolts in, however, it is for a manual seat. It uses
the center rail on the manual seat C4s, and all of the lever hardware. If you
check the ETKA you will see that all the C4 cars from 1992 to 1997 had a choice
of seats. The only difference was the bracket that mounted to the floor to
accommodate the center rail attachment for the manual seat. When I looked at
my car, even the carpet is pre-cut for the center rail attachment. When I
pulled the carpet up from the driver's side the current bracket is bolted down. I
didn't look on the inside of the driver's yet, but I would doubt they would
weld it on there.
This is why I am trying to find a junk yard in Canada. I know that no manual
seat C4s came to the USA. I am hoping that Audi shipped some to Canada. If
this does not work I will try Great Britain.
I have also been in touch with Wedge Engineering in CA about a bracket. They
don't have one for the C4. They would need a car to build one. The only
problem here, is that the height of the seat might force my head into the roof.
You would have the base, then the slider, then the seat brackets, and then the
seat.
Regards,
Robert
