He he....

Ever seen ANY Audi on Barrett Jackson? Not me, and I've watched it a lot. Audi has made fewer collectible vehicles than any other German manufacturer I can think of, and they don't even support those that are collectible. A few years ago, this same discussion would be had on the 200 20v list. Now those cars are literally throw-aways. I bought a really nice one myself for $1100 almost a year ago. I'll drive it a little, but ultimately it will be an engine donor.

This is really a dumb discussion. Supply and demand is what controls the market. And in this case (even though the supply is limited), demand is lower than supply. As a result, the price is low.

I love my S4, but ultimately it (or any other) will never be gracing the stage of Barrett Jackson. To think so is foolish. 'Cudas had value 10 years ago, UrQuattros still have little value today. You're talking apples and oranges.

A nice old split window VW Bug has more collector appeal than any Audi ever made.

In many ways, this is what makes Audis appealing to me. The desirable Audis have the bottom drop out on used prices in about 10 years after production. That's the time to buy them. Alot of bang for the buck. A few years down the road, and a lot of us will be discussing 2.7 S4s. A few more years, and you'll be bemoaning someone scrapping one out.

Dave

I am sure there was a time in the early 1970's when people were saying
"Hell, that old 'cuda ragtop with that honking big 426, sittin' out back by
the barn, well that's such a gas guzzler, it should just be taken off to the
scrap yard and crushed. Least I can get some money for it".

Ever watch Barrett Jackson?
