The 964 issues are blown way out of proportion IMO (especially for 1992 and
up cars). Distributor vent kit is like $20. Distributor belt is a pain to
change but also not very expensive. Oil leaks are mainly on some of the 1991 and
earlier (headgasketless)cars. Not all of them leaked. Many were repaired
under warranty. Incredible cars! I bought this 1992 964 (slate gray over linen
leather LSD C2) last May.

The 964s come up every now and then for cheap. I had to sell mine due to a
reduction in income. (mine was not cheap) I really miss that car. The 964s have
so much power. Car would get up to 130 like nothing. Unbelievable brakes and
way way more performance than the 84-89 Carreras. (Although I love those as
well especially the Fuch mags). Not nearly as fast as the 964s though at
least not the ones I have driven.

After driving the 1994 100cs Avant to work for a few months I got the urge
for some cheap thrills and bought this.

Was going to try and find a really cheap 911 but it's hard to beat the
performance per dollar of a used Audi. Also wanted a good daily driver but this
car is so nice I still hate driving it in the salty weather.

Good choice- probably one of the best balances between the raw visceral feel
of the early
cars and the refinement of the later cars.

I'm not a big fan of the 964- the dual distributor system and oil leaks are
potential issues. Also,
I don't see them as a big improvement over the earlier Carrera.
