I did not need to run 93 with my MTM 1+ chipset. 92, even 89 would work
fine. No pinging, no hesitation. Could it be fuel quality instead of
octane rating that is causing your problem? Just my $0.02.

Subject: [s-cars] Octane MTM+1
Ok I have had the MTM+1 chipset for awhile and it works fine, provided that
I use 93 octane gas. This was fine because local gas stations had
93 octane and all was well. I have moved to an area that only has 92 octane
at best and the car does not like it. I get bucking and chugging on WOT.
When I do come across a 93 octane pump when traveling and fill up, no more
bucking. Octane boost seems to do nothing. I've heard that dumping tuolene
in the gas tank can raise that octane. I am leery of putting anything not
specifically meant for my gas tank into my gas tank. What do you guys
think? Is tuolene OK? Any other alternatives aside from removing the chip?
Thanks,
JR
