Dave-
What was the problem with your ML?

I'm leaning toward full-size pickups due to cost and the fact that I
really
want
something with a long wheelbase and a lot of width in order to tow
comfortably.

This is all preliminary research, though- I'm a long way from buying a
truck.

The ML wheelbase is ridiculously short to tow with (about the same as my
former 2.3-16 - comical when parked side to side in the garage). I
towed my snowmobile with Wife's former '98 320 and while it did "ok" it
was less than ideal - and that was with one 500lb sled!

Pre-'00 ML's were notorious for hit or miss "issues". You just never
knew, some did some didn't. Our early '98 was fine oddly enough (few
niggling issues done under warranty), and our '02 has been knock woodrow
good, but boy have I heard some frightening stories...

As others noted Taka, get yourself a turbodiesel full size and be done
with it. There's no substitute.

So what's this new "work" you've lined up there, anyway?
