Tony,
have you become familiar with http://www.jag-lovers.org yet? The UI of
the forums is a little odd, but it's full of good people who are
interested in Jaguars. Your XJ8 falls under the X300 forum as it's an
extension of the '95-'97 XJ6 (X300 internal model designation).

I'm unsure of the of the X308's (your XJ8's designation) HID
headlights, but I would imagine that you should be able to recode them
as you guessed. Then again, we are speaking of Jaguar... nothing is as
it seems. ;-)

Have a trip over to jag-lovers and inquire there, I'm sure you'll find
someone over on the board that knows how to turn them on for you. I'm
on the board as jaguarSean for our '97 VDP... see you there!
