[s-cars] Turbo choices and the EFI header

I use a GT30R/header on my car. You will need to run some software that uses a larger injector. If you are using the Garrett turbine housing (which I would suggest, since you're running a header) you will want to run the .82 A/R housing. Smaller and you will have compressor surge issues.
You will need to build your engine with good connecting rods, and I would suggest a light flywheel as well. Also, expect power to come on no sooner than 3500rpm.
This turbo on my engine has put out 442 hp at the wheels. At the dragstrip, it managed a 12.400 at 113.35mph with a clutch that couldn't hold the engine (2.2 second 60 foot).
Properly tuned, it is a stunning combination.

Subject: Re: [s-cars] Turbo choices and the EFI header
in a 1995 S6, looking at installing a GT 30R and the EFI header (rather
than the RS2 EM)plus injectors and chip. Anybody used this combination who
has thoughts on the EFI brackets and mounting and plumbing issues that come
with using this header compared to the RS2 manifold? Anybody have a dyno
sheet showing performance using this combination or something like it?

Subject: [s-cars] Turbo Replacements
Paul: You have several options for turbo replacement (which I will get
wrong and somebody will correct me, no doubt):
1. Rebuild you existing K24 turbo. - can be done but not very cost
effective given you still end up with a K24.
2. Buy a used K24 turbo from somebody who has upgraded their turbo. -
probably fairly cost effective if all you want to go is MTM+1 or
equivalent
3. RS2 turbo - a bit pricy. Was THE ticket a few years ago but there
are better or bigger turbos for the same money or less. You need to
upgrade the Exhaust manifold to RS2 EM or something from 034Motorsport
plus bigger injectors and new software, aka the "slippery slope". Good
for about 370 crank hp.
4. GT2871, GT3176 Garrett ball bearing turbos - these are the "new
kids" on the block. Good bang for the buck, similar to the RS2 turbo
but more legs. Still needs EM, injectors, and software upgrades. More
grease on the slope. Good for over 370 crank hp.
5. GT30R, GT35, GT35R - These are near the top or OVER the top. Will
make over 400 crank hp with EM, injectors, software, etc. Totally
greased slope.
How much money you got?
HTH
I am sure others will chime in.
