Hey I work at Stowe mountain resort and live in the burlington area.  If you are interested I can take you out to a few places for food and beers.  If you want to ski come check out stowe mountain where I work, there are lots of places there to get apres ski drinks and food.  Unfortunatly during the winter the connecting road between mad river and stowe is closed, so if you are set on going to mad river then you will have to take the long way round.  But at the very least I can suggest a few places of interest.
