[s-cars] TT HID retrofit into URS

Paul;

I plan on doing a photo write-up on my conversion; I'll send you a copy.

The TT HID projectors are about the same size as the OEM projectors, so they
fit into the housing without a problem. The mounting holes are slightly off
the OEM positions, so I made up an adapter plate out of 1/4" Lexan. The
igniter box fits nicely into the removable case cover. I cut the ballast
mounts out of the TT headlight cases and used them to mount the ballasts. I
used a 6 gang Weatherpak connector for power to the ballasts and the wiring
from the ballasts to the igniter. I should have the write-up done in a week
or so.

Just got back from Christmas visiting and a 4 hour night drive up Highway
69. The HID lows are superb. What I like most is the horizontal spread; they
give excellent visibility to around 100-150 feet to the right side of the
car (and the left of course). Just what is required for picking up errant
moose and deer who are contemplating suicide. I currently have them set so
the cut-off hits the road ~300 feet in front of the car.

Subject: [s-cars] TT HID retrofit into URS

As the end of the year comes, I find myself rereading old s-car email
and figuring out if there will ever be any grip on the slippery slope or
not (I think not). I'm intrigued by the idea of retrofitting some Audi
TT HID low beam projectors into my Euro S6 headlights, but I can't find
any reference to the exact year/part numbers of TT headlights I'm
looking for. So, to those that have already done so, do you have any
part numbers? I believe Fred Munro has done this as well as Mark
Strangeways and I think Dave Forgie while Igor Kessel use some Euro 740i
lights.

Some how about some part numbers, years of potential donor cars, and any
other advice you can throw out at us.

TIA<
