Chris,
I would suggest using a common carrier... Yellow, Overnight, Roadway... The cheapest thing to do is to price the shipment based on a dock pickup. That means it will be shipped to the terminal nearest to your home, and you pick it up at their dock. If you have it delivered to your house, it adds a significant charge ($60-100).
I've never tried the train thing.
Dave

Subject: [s-cars] what does an audi transmission weight? shipping questions...
Gentz,
I purchased a 6-speed 01 S4tt trans, and now I need to make
arrangements for a 6-speed trans to be shipped to me. Does anyone
have any ideas of the weight, and perhaps the length of one of these?
I've been told it might be cheaper to ship it by Greyhound than by UPS.
Any thoughts on cheapest shipping from Texas to Michigan?
Thanks
Chris
