dead but not forgotten, apparently. :)
i actually forgot about that particular debate. my car was giving
me 20+ psi of boost when i disconnected the wastegate from the WGFV
and clamped the hose shut. then you speculated that the spring in
my wastegate might not be stock, so i tried to remove the upper half
of the WG for a look. however, the upper half is really stuck to
the diaphragm and i didn't want to tear the diaphragm, so i gave up.
i think it is probably stock because the metal plug is still there
(indicating nobody has tried to adjust the preload on the spring),
and the previous owner who installed the MTM stage II+ mods said he
didn't touch the wastegate.
is there somebody out there with a known stock wastegate who would
like to disconnect it briefly and answer this question for us? it
would be helpful if the car were relatively stock as well.
hey bob, since you've had so much practice lately, why don't you
try disconnecting the WG from the WGFV and see what kind of boost
you get now that you've fixed the leak in the MM hose?
