[s-cars] Rear caliper carrier (wanted)

It is bizarre, I admit, but one side has a distinctly different looking carrier from the other and does not match the appearance of the carrier in ETKA or in Bentley for the S4. Not sure how it happens that the S4's vented rotors fit this carrier, the tipoff was that the rotor came off the hub without removing the carrier, on the correctly installed side the carrier needed to be removed in order for the rotor to come off the hub.
I already have a new caliper for the side that sticks, I obviously bought it without the carrier thinking mine was good. Only explanation is the the previous owner put in a rebuilt caliper that came with an incorrect carrier.
Lesson learned: Never assume what's in a car is what came from the factory if you're not the original owner (duh!)

Not quite sure how you would have come to this conclusion. To the best
of my knowledge most of those cars used solid rear rotors, and thus had
carriers with a narrower rotor opening. Scars should have vented
rears. The only cars that have vented rears from that vintage would
have been the 1991 200 20v, the V8s, and the Scars. And at that point
the carriers should be interchangeable. I know that V8s had a wider
track, but that was all in the wheel bearing housing, and not brake
related. Vented rear brake components are interchangeable.
That being said, if you are unhappy with the slop, wear, or stiffness
inherent in your current caliper carrier, you can try contacting Force 5
Automotive www.force5auto.com / mailto:chris at force5auto.com /
603.223.6700 or any of the other normal used parts suppliers in inquire
about purchasing another used carrier, or perhaps a complete reman
caliper. I know that Force 5 sells the reman rears and the come
complete with caliper/carrier/pads and new caliper/carrier bolts and
slide pin boots.

>Does anyone have a spare rear caliper carrier for the S4? I was doing my rear brakes and discovered that one of my carriers is not the original one but probably one from a 4000/5000 and many other Audi's that someone had installed previously. It probably explains why that side tends to stick.
