OK, does anybody know how to repair the dark check system display in my 
instrument cluster ('95.5 urS6).  The fault is in the cluster.  Swapping 
the cluster from another urS6 shows that the display works.  The bulbs 
which provide the light are known good.  There is no hint of a darkened 
display at any time.  There are no obvious solder faults, at least none 
obvious.  I couldn't swear that none exist but I examined the area closely.

There is a chime at startup which goes off.  It showed a worn brake 
indicator on the other cluster.  The brakes are not worn out or even close 
to being worn out.  I suspect that someone "solved" the problem by 
disabling the display before I bought the car.  It would be nice to have it 
back.
