[s-cars] Hydraulic Hose issues

All,

It appears my J-hose has given up after 160,000 miles (hydraulic pump to 
accumulator); anyone with experience? The hose if off the car, but I have no 
way of testing the swags.

Any luck fabricating this $412.00 (blau) / $503 (dealer) high pressure line? 
Why does it have 1/2 inch insulation around it?

And yes, I have asked parts direct, autohaus az, and TPC for quotes...
