While this all sounds pretty darn cool... I'm having a hard time making
the connection between 40 valves, 4 cams, and 10 cylinders, and the
statement:
 
"The number of moving parts required for ten cylinders is moreover
relatively low, bringing the added bonus of low friction losses."
 
I do find it interesting that they basically have designed 2 I5's stuck
together... same stroke, same crank design, and even one ECU per 5
cylinders.
 
Hey... maybe there will be some "retrofitable" technology.

So, I come in this a.m. and thumb through a Business Week rag, Jan
features a bit about 21st Century Automobile.  I turn to a page with a
dash shot of - says the tachometer - //S8.  

I don't *think* it's a "6" written there but it could be I guess, it's
hard to tell.  But it's got round TT looking air vents, not the
rectangular ones I just saw @ the local Stealer on a C6 (more later).
Is it an //S8, //S6, or a photoshop combo job of those and a TT,
bastardized together?  

So here's the rub and why I write this...  the center console features,
well, a STICK 6-spd.  

Which upcoming //S car is getting a stick???  Or another Euro-only
screwjob like usual maybe?  Funnies part is the steering wheel is
unmistakably the new Audi's but they've photoshopped out the 0000 rings
- even tho it says //S8 (or 6) on the tach - and even tho it says "Audi
Navigation Plus" on the center stack unit.  F'n dorks.

Not like I could 'afford one' for another 7-10, of course.  Just
curious.  Would lovelovelove an D3 //S8 mit 6gang oh my!

ANYway...  so while @ stealer I stroll next door (same driveway) to the
Pcar place.  My happy place.  Well I'll be damned if they weren't
unloading <<<SEVEN>>> new Cayman's.  Seven.  Damn things look fab in
person, moreso than in the rags.  Sitting in it was awesome, mentioned
to the sales schlep I'd be back come spring for my flog oh yes.  Same
dude who sold my bud the GT3 and he recognized me, so, ya never know
8-).  The Carrera GT sans top collected um well a bit of my drool as
well.  Whooops.

Oh, and WHY I was @ the stealer to begin with???  Well apparently when I
vex'ed you all last week and mentioned the words "oil pressure sender"
to Thompson upon his failing...   I vex'ed meself.  Ur4kq pissing all
over now, and, TWO sensors on that car, hi and lo.  Oh joy!
