Hi Dan - my 94 S4 has been up on stands now for two weeks while I have been doing "preventive maintenance" when the FOUR women in my life let me. One (of many) items I replaced was the coolant tank, which I bought over a year ago at the The Parts Connection when it was on special for something like $35. I bought it because coolant tanks at 10 years on these cars are guaranteed to fail. I also bought a turbo afterrun pump at the same time, which was handy about nine months ago.
When I removed the inlet hose on my old tank, the "plastic" had become powder around a metal pipe held together by the rubber hose.
Just replace it. No fix.
My three daughters love how pink the the Pentosin coolant looks in the new tank.
Hapworthy bling forsure.
