IMHO, bob, you're spending too much time on this.

just splice the O2 sensor in, and pick up the connectors
at your leisure.  you won't have to deal with this
again for another 90k miles, based on your current practice.

i would have preferred to use the connectors, too, but i
wasn't going to hold up the repair to look for a connector
to make a connection that i won't be breaking again for
years.
