In the recent tire test by Car & Driver, they tested the T1-R as well as the
GSD3 and
many other tires. The Toyo came in dead last or close to it.
The top three, in ascending order, were the Yokohama Advan 007, Continental
Sport
Contact 2 and the Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3. The Goodyear seemed to do
everything
pretty well and was excellent (maybe tops) in the wet. The Yokohama was best
in the
dry. The Conti was overall very good, not tops in anything but consistently
good in every
category. Price and treadwear were not taken into account during this test.
The car used was the E90 BMW 3-series and the tire size was 225/45R17 IIRC.
I'd get the Goodyears probably for your criteria.
The one tire that was missing that I thought was a major oversight was the
current darling
of the street tire classes of auto-x- the Falken Azenis RT-615. I'm putting
615s on both my
cars this year (definitely the Miata, maybe the STi if the RE-070s are
dead).
