[s-cars] NAC: Rear-ended on the Autobahn

Well, all I know is what I heard on the History channel with a documentary
on the Autobahn. I will go re-listen to the tape and see what the exact
quote is, if I can find it.

This is out of a Forbes Magazine Article written on Aug. 28th, 2003.

>In 2001 the death rate was 6 per billion passenger-vehicle miles, versus 8
for U.S. interstates. (The number of passengers per vehicle is not
appreciably different).

Another quote from Wired Magazine:
>Despite the higher speeds, the death rate on the German Autobahn is lower
than on US highways.

I could find a few more, but even the IRTAD stats that I saw quoted
basically say the same thing.

doubtful, unless you cook up some off-the-wall statistic to prove your
point. in terms of passengers/mile driven the US likely leads any
country on the planet. it's not that we're safer - it's just our sheer
number of roads and people driving on them.
