Here are pictures of the new and old radiators, for comparison:

I bought a lower temperature radiator fan switch (the one that screws
into the radiator) but I have not installed it yet. I believe it is
intended to go with the 80C thermostat.

I ran the car with the new radiator at Lime Rock a few weeks back, and
although the car ran hot (as always) the coolant temperature was lower
than it is when driving in city traffic in the summer (95-100C, below
the standard radiator fan switch threshold of 102C). Oil temperature
was considerably higher though (>130C). I plan on doing an oil cooler
upgrade at some point.

I too run that el cheapo $160 rad, got it from Semple like 3 years and
many miles ago. My car is exercised day in day out, my temp gauge never
even BUDGES off of 90C. Ever. Before or after the new rad. My oil
does do the same as you describe above on sustained WOT runs in summer,
a better cooler would be helpful.

Hope that helps Brian. Your motor would have to be running like super
funky hot for those mere 8k you had it, which then you'd certainly have
taken note of, for your shop's reason to hold water. My thought.

Good luck.
