I used a 2 part epoxy that you can buy at a hardware store and just globbed it on so that the metal clip was awash in it. Then I let it sit overnight.
Also said a prayer when I clipped it back in place.

Subject: [s-cars] Sunroof control panel
Well I'm on my second one of these in a few years. This time the knob
that controls the sunroof started falling off and it backed out just
enough that the knob started turning freely without affecting the
sunroof. I had to take the control panel out to fix it. Of course in
doing so I broke one of those horribly designed piece of $%#^ steel
tension tabs that holds the whole thing up. You know the one with the
two pieces of melted plastic being the only thing that affixes it to the
panel. It's unbelievable that such a poorly designed and built part
made it's way into a $50,000 car... Anyway, has anyone successfully
glued one of these back on? When my first one died I tried various
glues, but they all failed and I ended up driving home from where ever
with the panel hanging down in my face. Is there a glue or method of
attaching that will work? If not, does anyone have a good source on a
new one? I can't remember where I got my second one so I have a feeling
it was the stealership. I tend to block those purchases out due to the
traumatic cost of even the most insignificant part.
JR
