[s-cars] The Audi as a Fiat

A quick flash here...a neighbor (textbook John Q. Public) bought a '99
Hyundai Sonata new. He drove it 100k miles and gave it to his son.
His son took the car to the garage as it was handling strangely. The
garage (a trusted source) found that the entire front subframe was
completely rusted out. The one control arm had started to separate from
the subframe (hence the handling problem).
A new subframe? $1900 plus labor.
The neighbor called Hyundai and they said "tough cookies, PA treats
their roads in the winter and that is what caused it".
Well, we live in rural PA with minimal road treatment need, not
Pittsburgh with tons of salt due to the hills.
I will never buy a Hyundai.
