Dave: Sorry you had to have such an expensive lesson. Ouch.
Real S-cars (at least the C4 92-97 S-cars) have a connector rack on the
fire wall for several connector plugs including the O2 Sensor, the two
coil power plugs and the knock sensors. IIRC, the two power plugs from
the OE coil pack snap (click) into the rack and the two power source
plugs from the wiring harness snap into these two plugs in the usual
Bosch tang and slot manner. The real point is the connection is
physically supported, not flopping around waiting for a big bump to
knock it apart. Too bad you didn't notice that sooner.
Two consolations (neither puts money back in your pocket):
1. WE all learned something too, i.e. to check the coil power plugs
(under the black plastic cover) and
2. You know have a plug and play Apikol 1.8t coil pack conversion that
you can use either to compare performance between the two systems OR
replace the OE system when the next POS or OE coil fails.
