[s-cars] A/C strength, 93 S4

Two simple, cheap tricks.
First, run low pressure water through the condenser fins. Even if the front
of the condenser seems clean, you'd be surprised how much dirt can come out
of it... and block heat exchange.
Second, test or have tested the high pressure. On old A/C system, the
evaporator nozzle (doesn't rememeber the exact name) tend to be clogged by
contaminated oil when the system has a leak. This slow down the evaporation
process so the efficiency of the A/C system. The part is 20 box from the
dealer and changing it takes 5 min. when the system has been discharged.
It's located at the high pressure port of the evaporator. Just unbolt the
hose, pull the nozzle, put a new one, change the seal while you're at it (a
few cents more) and bolt the hose back. If the nozzle is dirty, changing the
dryer and flushing the oil from the compressor while the system is
discharged isn't a bad idea either. Note, that if this nozzle is clogged,
the compressor is probably going south but you can get 2-3 years more out of
it.
If none of these tricks work, the solution can make your wallet a bit
thinner.
Vincent.

I recently had my A/C recharged. It seemed to make no improvement. So, for
those of you that have a 93 S4 (or similar), what should I expect?
The A/C barely keeps up when the outside temps are 95-105. It will take
about 5 minutes to get cool air out of the vents when the car has been heat
soaked in 100+ degree sun.
Any Arizona or New Mexico owners with experience/suggestions out there?
David
