E85 contains less energy per gallon than does any flavor of
gasoline. This requires that for any given power level more E85 must
be burned than gasoline. For our cars to use E85 we need to deliver
more fuel to the engine. This can be accomplished by software
control of injector duty cycle, higher flowing injectors, higher fuel
pressures or some combination of these. In turn, depending on just
how much power you are looking for, this may also require larger
capacity fuel pumps, larger diameter fuel lines, etc., in order to
keep up with the injectors demands.
