Dear Irrational Exuberance,
 
I've seen that quote a few times... and it is a crock.  Properly planned and appropriately tuned, there is a lot beyond RS2.  I'll also point out for the n-th time, that it CAN cost about the same as the RS2 parts, except for the con rods.
 
Without doubt, however, you can empty your wallet and drain your enthusiasm on things done the wrong way.  But that is the case with anything in life.
