Yes, the rod length is the critical piece of the equation. 144mm is the AAN length, and when used with a larger stroke, creates an unfavorable rod ratio. However, when you use the taller block with the longer rods, you maintain very nearly the same rod ratio as a stock 2.2, which is good to 8k+ rpm with the right rods and a good build.
Have fun,

Dave

Dear Irrational Exuberance,

I've seen that quote a few times... and it is a crock.
 Properly
planned and appropriately tuned, there is a lot beyond
RS2. I'll also point
out for the n-th time, that it CAN cost about the same
as the RS2
parts, except for the con rods.

Without doubt, however, you can empty your wallet and
drain your
enthusiasm on things done the wrong way. But that is
the case with anything
in life.

Dave (with now 50k+ miles on a 442whp 2.2)

"all that lies beyond RS2 is heartbreak, sorrow and an
empty wallet."

 Dave, sing the praises Brother,

I want a full blown monster!! aiming for 500/550Whp
8-0!! Just a matter of what kinda pachage I will wrape
it in. 80q, CQ, Urq ;-> but it will be built.

As I said before I did get in contact with the
elusive Uncle Bob. He's enlightened me a great deal in
just our 1st messages. he sent me the # for his bat
phone so I can talk to him. Allso I plan on giving him
the spot light & smokey room interogation at //sfest.
Don't be surprised if he goes into permanant hidding
after LOL

But anyone else out there have thing to say about the
stroker motor??? Specifically using the Euro van 2.5l
lower end..with 95.5mm crank.
I WILL be using 034 IIC for the 20vt for Engine
Management & I was assured that I'd get plenty of
customer service from Javad.

But I guess new info is, & if any other stroker motor
fella out there can chime in is that,
cause of the taller deck on the EV block I was told
to use 159mm rods. Which are standard ABA VW spec
rods(Pauter) Cause the AAN block(which I WON'T be
using) is an 84.?mm or was it 86.4?? crank that the
rods were or are 144mm. But I have to go back through
the jumbuld file I have on this subject. But
I'll talk to Uncle Bob tomarrow before he leaves on
his next adventure.
Thanx
Ron
